Member Events

Normal member events have been suspended for 2020 due to the pandemic.  Please see the Covid-19 Response page for the amended schedule of play.

There are a variety of member events that are held throughout the season.

Tuesday evenings are generally for league play.  Each week teams are selected by random draw based on the players' preferred positions.  On completion of play for the evening, results are compiled and players' standings (within their respective positions of play) are calculated.  At the end of the competition (12 to 16 weeks depending on scheduling), prizes are awarded to the top players by position.

Open draws are generally held most other days (except Thursdays).  Members who show up to play put their names in for a draw to determine teams, positions and rinks and play proceeds from there.  Social draws are scheduled periodically throughout the season, usually Fridays and Sundays.  These tend to be the most casual gatherings and are often accompanied with food and/or refreshments.   Sunday socials often include non-traditional bowling competitions to up the fun level.

There are also a number of tournaments for members each year.  These competitions include singles (novice and experienced), pairs and triples.  Winners names are engraved on plaques which are kept in the club trophy case.

Ann & Helene Memorial Tournament

The Ann & Helene Memorial tournament will not be held in 2020 due to the pandemic.  We look forward to resuming next year.

The Ann & Helene Memorial Tournament is the KLBC's premiere annual open tournament, held at the end of August.  It is open to teams of five players and features singles, doubles, triples and fours competitions spread over three days.  Teams come from across BC and beyond to compete each year.  Entry costs $200 per team and all entry fees are returned to the players in the form of prize money.

The tournament is named for two long-time members of the club, sisters Ann Paterson and Helene Hlokoff.  The tournament is sponsored by members of their families in memory of these two dear ladies.

On The Lawn

On the Lawn will not be taking place in 2020 due to the pandemic.  Please visit their website for more info by clicking on the photo at right.

On the Lawn is an annual fund raising event held at the Kelowna Lawn Bowling Club to benefit Elevation Outdoors, an organization that provides outdoor sports and leadership programs for disadvantaged youth in the Central Okanagan.  To date, On the Lawn has raised approximately $100,000 for Elevation Outdoors.

Lawn Bowling Lessons

Our lawn bowling lessons program has been suspended temporarily during the pandemic.  Please check back occasionally for more updates or contact us directly with questions.

Lawn bowling lessons are available (by appointment) for those who would like to try out the sport.  The lessons are spread across three sessions (usually weekly) and will take players through all of the basic elements of the game.  At the end of the lessons, participants will have a firm grasp of the fundamentals of lawn bowling that they can build on if they decide to continue in the game.

A nominal fee is charged for lessons which will be fully applied to membership fees should participants decide to join the KLBC.
